I would much prefer to have them removed. I have a yorkie that still has his and they are very difficult to trim and I can't seem to get them shorter than they already are and they are quite long... Even the vet techs (who trim his nails) can't get them down enough and she's accidently cut into the quick once. Ugh. Next puppy I get will definitely have them removed. I've already contacted a breeder where we are going to move to in a year and she has them removed as well as the tails docked by her vet when she has puppies. So that's good, for me. I feel sorry that the puppies will be in pain but it's much better to have them done as a day old or so instead of doing it when they are older. Just my two cents.
