You are such an angel for giving Lucy the love and wonderful life that she deserves so much. Your story and photo brought me to tears, but it also warmed my heart so. My little girl, Ashley, had dementia the last year of her life. Her eyesight was affected by fast growing cataracts, and she had some hearing loss. Our world was turned upside down giving her the twenty four hour a day care to make sure and to keep her feeling safe, protected, and loved. It was also such a special time in our lives with her. We didn't think it was possible, but we grew to love our "new" little baby even more than before. We don't know if she knew we were her mommy and daddy, but she knew we loved her, and she responded so much to that love. We walked miles a day, right up until the time she passed away right before her seventeenth birthday. She took Anipryl, which really eased her anxiety a lot, and we were assured by her doctors that she had a good quality of life. Every single moment with Ashley was precious. We had little sleep because of her care, but we would have loved to go on caring for our little girl for as long as it was the right thing for her. Ashley never lost that spark or her tremendous capacity to love. She touched our hearts so, and we will forever be better people because of our little girl. You are doing such a beautiful thing by giving Lucy the love and life she is so deserving of. Both of your lives have changed so positively. Lucy is so adorable! I hope you have many happy, loving, and healthy years with Lucy.
