I'm just seeing this now. Poor Sammy! Sending prayers for a speedy and full recovery.
If you have a cone/collar, it might be a good idea for Sammy to wear it at least for a couple of days to prevent him from pawing at his injured eye, especially in his sleep. As long as you are faithful with the medicine, his eye should be fine.
