I do not do eye tests on my Yorkies for the reasons your vet said. Yorkies just do not seem to have a great problem with eyes except for one issue. There is a condition I have seen in Yorkies called PPM (Persistent Pupillary Membranes). The puppy is either blind when the eyes open or is blind just a few weeks later...at least that's what happened in the PPM cases I witnessed. There is no cure and it is considered genetic in nature. I know I saw this disease re-occur multiple times in one breeder's program. The dogs were all related. Don't know much about it other than that. This disease shows up while the pup is very young. Any other problems will not show up in Yorkies for maybe years. So I do not see the need to have Yorkies CERF tested annually. Hope this helps.
