About five years ago I sat next to a lady on an airplane who worked for a company that offered GPS devices for people with dementia, at that time she talked about embedding a chip in people but it was more of a GPS type device.

In some nursing homes,people with dementia wear an ankle bracelet just like people that are on house arrest. There are facilities that just use key pad door locks for each wing but these are places that specialize in dementia/alzhimers.
