See, that goes against everything I've read about securing your position as the lead animal to your dogs-they should walk behind or beside you, never in front of you.
Of course, I don't live near coyotes. I've seen raccoons and armadillos, but I think my neighborhood is too rowdy for coyotes, although we do have a creek and trees, so maybe they just stay well hidden.
Also, coyotes are scavengers. They'll eat anything smaller than them, and will even attempt attacks on larger animals. They are nasty, vile creatures and we shoot them at our lease to keep them from attacking the fawns.
