Melanie, what I would do is keep their tails. ~Now wait~ Try to show them and see what kind of reaction you get, if you really think that the tails will win them first place do it. By this time it makes no difference if their 8 months or 2 years. If you still keep their tails, I'm sure that they will produce beautiful pups that are even more beautiful than they are, and you could start fresh with one that won't have a tail...
