Default Update on Choco: Microchip Question

Choco is still not found. I have posted flyers everywhere and contacted the microchip company. All the shelters are aware that he is lost. HE is microchipped, but was not collared.

I have a question. Worst scenario, that he is either hit by car, bitten by a coyote (our neighborhood is residential but there are small hiking trails), would the city pick up dead dogs and check for microchips before they bury him? Or do they just bury them like they would bury dead rabbits?

I'm so heartbroken. My backyard is tightly sealed but he still managed to dig a hole under and get out.

Thank you all for your concerns. I really appreciate it. I hope that he returns home soon, but it's been a week and I am starting to lose hope. I just hope that he is at least living and well, with someone who doenst know that he is microchipped and doesn't nkow how to return him home. Even though I still think that they shouldve sent him to the shelter without keeping the dog if it's not theirs.
