I hope that all the rigid, intolerant and un-empathetic folks out there never have an illness or injury that requires long-term medication for pain. Thats all.
A man I know suffers with chronic pain from a work related back injury. He is now almost totally dependanat on others to do daily routines for him. He was prescibed pain medication and has not, even almost 9 years later, been able to function daily life without his medication. He is on a much higher dosage than originally prescribed becuase he began having pain while on the medication. He admits he is adicted but simply cannot deal with the pain/discomfort without them.

It is very sad to see someone suffer with addiction whether or not they "chose" to take that first dose.
