Thank you again dear friends for all your kind words. I can't tell you how much it means to me.

I have found that it is true that we are never ready for them to go.... even when they are very old. I've spent much of the last year "preparing" the best I could, in my head for the day, but didn't know how much my heart would ache.

There was a feeling of relief at first that he was no longer in pain, and I felt his freedom. Then came the tears, and more tears, and the frustration of waiting for his ashes. Finally they called, and his ashes can be picked up tomorrow, and I just can't wait to bring my boy home. That will be one more step toward peace, I hope. We do have so many good memories of him, lots of pictures and videos, and soon I'll work on a framed collage of the favorites.

Thanks again for all your understanding.
