I'm always so uncomfortable with the whole tipping thing - guilt, condescending, reward, punishment, professional or not. Lots of judging going on.

A number of jobs require good customer service for regardless of the hourly salary do not seem appropriate for tips - but others do....

My Mother is old and I hear her friends talking about how they don't feel like they can ever go out to eat because they do not have much money and don't feel like they could afford to tip -- something is wrong here......
