I use the crate and the playpen with Ella. I put her in her crate at night and whenever I leave the house. If I am busy at home and can't direct supervise Ella, then I put her in her playpen. In the beginning, I left the door unzipped and folded open and I put her food and water in there with her bed and toys She goes in and out of it all the time to get toys. When I lock her in there now - she will jump up a few times but calms down quick and will hang out till I let her out. Good luck with yours!!
