We had the Potty Patch and UgoDog on our balcony with a doggy door (before we moved). Ivan liked the Ugo for peeing and the Potty Patch for pooping so we just kept both. He will only use them when he's pretty desperate and prefers to go on walks. Iris will use either but prefers the Potty Patch. Overall, we liked them, especially in the rain or late at night.
With either one, we use a pee pad in the tray for easy clean up. The size of the tray has never been a problem. It holds more than you'd think. But the pee pad to absorb everything really helps.
We had a larger, more expensive version of the Potty Patch for a while, called a Porch Potty. We didn't like that as it was too hard to clean because it was so big. They loved to lay on that one.
The grass ones do get stinky and need to be cleaned often and have the grass replaced when cleaning won't get the stink out. We found that daily spraying with an enzyme cleaner helped to keep it fresher between cleanings. It was fine outdoors but I would not want it for inside because of the smell. The other drawback that we noticed is that their paws pick up the smell when they use it (pee feet, yuck!).
I really like the UgoDog best. It's much easier to keep clean and the smell does not build up. If you can train the pup to use it, I think it's the best we tried. |
