We had a puppy get parvo. He stayed at the vet 11 days, on IV fluids and it cost us 6500.00. Parvo is hard to treat, especially in small dogs, and there is no cure for the virus itself. The treatment is for the secondary infections the virus causes, and the dehydration. Because their body is trying to shed the virus (which lives in the intestines) they poop and vomit, and causes further hydration. It can take very little time for a healthy, playful pup to succumb to the symptoms and become lethargic and very sick. A large percentage of pups that get it do not survive.

Good luck. The good thing is, it's like chicken pox, and once your pup has it, it's very unlikely for them to get it again (although it is still possible)
You can message me if you'd like.

Keep in mind parvo can live in the soil of a home, it can be brought in on the hands, clothes and even shoes of a person who has come in contact with it, and it can even live in the carpet and on the furr of other animals. The only thing that kills it is bleach, and short of burning your house down or digging up the yard 3 ft and hauling out the o,d dirt, you can not get it out of the yard. Even then, you can not make every other person vaccinate their dogs, or keep their dogs from coming in contact with it and bringing it into your yard and home. It's a hardy virus that can live for years....
P.s. Not sure if you can give any input to the vet or whoever you're getting the pup from, but
A good probiotic is helpful anytime your dog (or you) take antibiotic, as antibiotics take out ALL the bacteria in your body and your body actually needs good bacteria to help it fight infections.
