Thank's Maximo, I haven't noticed Maya drinking less after changing her from Royal Canin to Acana. I did notice that she didn't scratch or lick her paws the way she was with RC. I am wondering if Acana is too high in protein...can't say she is overly active, evening walks and if there are other dogs who will play with her then she gets a great work out. I don't think she drinks very much????? But how much should an 8lb yorkie drink???? If I were to take her off of Acana, what would be a great substatute???? I tried taste of the wild and I personally found it too smelly and Maya breathe was horrible...major fishy...
I am thinking of measuring her water every morning and try to figure out exactly how much she is drinking. I have noticed in the last month or so, her pee is somewhat darker but then she isn't a puppy (9mos) puppy and she has had her first heat....she also got very sick while she was in heat, some kind of baterial infection and she was at the vet's over night. She came home and had to be on prescription for 20 days. I will be arranging for her to be spayed and will ask for a urine test and of course more blood work.
