Marge saves the day!
This happened here a couple of years back. We live on a corner and all the houses on our block lost power except for us as we were hooked to the side street. So we ran heavy duty extension cords next door and across to the street. Our next door neighbor has two little kids and without the tv they would have made their parent nuts. The power was out for 2 days. After the power came back on the Mom helped the 2 little ones bake us chocolate chip cookies.
