Just wanted to put out there that it is a good idea to put aside money for "non-routine" vet care. Just because you have a healthy puppy doesn't mean that a few years down the road you won't have to spend those thousands on something for your dog. Which I'm assuming by your avatar that youalready have a dog and probably know this.
But I do agree about starting off as healthy as possible. We have two rescues...both mutts....that are healthy as horses. My mom's schnauzer from a breeder has started having seizures. So you just never really know.
