Handlers can be expensive, but with the price of travel these days, it can sometimes cost less, depending on your area. Although it is more rewarding to finish a dog yourself, people do have various reasons that make it impossible but I can only think of a couple I would EVER send one of my dogs with.
You are absolutely right, there is SO much to be learned before anyone even considers trying to purchase a show prospect or exhibiting. Long process but worth the effort if one is sincere. |
Yes there are circumstances that work or not work for everyone with needing a handler
the other problem i see is Mary no punt intended you have partis and parti carrerrs and to get someone to sell you a show dog is going to be near inpossible because they do not want there traditionals bred into a parti
also you cannot show parti or parti carrerrs in ukc
ukc pretty much follows the akc standard
ukc disqualifications
Unilateral or bilateral cryptorchid. Viciousness or extreme shyness. Any solid color, or any combination of colors (such as, but not limited to, chocolate and tan or tri-color) other than those specifically described in the standard. Any white marking other than a small spot on the chest, no more than one inch in diameter. Any change in coat color by artificial means. Albinism.
