I am very lucky. When we moved here I looked at half a dozen in the area and the one I liked best was about .5 miles by street and if I had to I could walk and cut through the woods and it would be 2.5 blocks. He does most of his own work and has great contacts in the area if we ever need a specialist. He also has a service that I can call that will even get him up out of bed to meet me at the office. I have only had to do that once (don't wanna talk about it) and he was there in around 20 minutes.
He looks me in the eye, he gives me all the options and lets me make the decisions. Since we are so close and he knows I will be watching them like a hawk, he has even let me take my dogs home early after surgery. There are others that charge less but I think it is worth it when you have someone that is good and works with you.
I have talked to him about getting a Yorkie and we have gone over the health concerns and he thinks a smaller Yorkie would be a great companion for Angel.
Oh, and I wanted to add that the assistants in his office are top shelf. Very informed, caring and willing to talk. That makes a big difference when your time with the Doc is limited. I even had one of them ask ME for advice! I know a lot about big dogs but these little ones are a whole different kind of critter! Thank you YorkieTalk, I don't know what I would have done with out you!
