Thank you for your replies. We did look on petfinder. There are many great adult dogs (cats too) available for adoption, but not very many puppies that met our needs. We have adopted in the past, and will do sp again I am sure. I did check on some that were listed, but they did not work for us. They were too far away, or they could not go to a family with children, or no larger dogs allowed. Locally adopting a pet is much like a game of chance. It is a first come first served basis, and if more than one person wants the same pet they draw names. I found a dog I absolutely fell in love with a couple of years ago at the shelter. He had been found and picked up. I spent the whole time waiting for him to be available hoping my name would be drawn, if anyone else showed up wanting him. I did not get him. Thankfully his family showed up to claim him, and I know he had to have been ecstatic to see them. Sorry, I am rambling again.
My mother found her a puppy. She is perfect. She is everything we wanted. In fact my daughter, Sydney, is anxious to introduce her to the group. She will probably start a thread in the nursery section soon. |
