I am amazed that your pup will sleep when you are awake! Mine are still puppies, but since they came home we have been waking up between 4-4:30am to play and start our day. It is painful somedays, but the attack with puppy kisses when I take them into the living room is worth it. So....to answer your initial question, when I can't sleep and get up with the pups and I usually either start the coffee going or make a cup of hot tea.
