I joined the therapy dog division of our local dog club. They already have visits set up at regularly scheduled times with different organizations. You just pick what works best with your schedule.
If you don't have a dog club like that, also run a search for Therapy Dogs International, Delta Society or Therapy Dogs Inc.
Not sure of the requirements in all the groups, but our group we have to have Beginning Obedience (10 wks), Novice Obedience (10 wks), and pass your Canine Good Citizen test. I do know in the other groups they have tests also.
I find it very rewarding and haven't had a bit of trouble with anyone being rough with her. You just have to keep a close watch just in case.
