LOL. I think I would get along well with your BIL/SIL. I had a nasty neighbor in my last HOA. She was mean to my dogs, would yell at my kids for playing in the backyard (she was always hung over and it's not like the houses were right on top of each other, I had a one acre lot!) and she proceeded to tell me that I couldn't plant a certain type of tree on my property because she didn't like looking at them.
You guessed it...I planted a whole boat load of those trees on the property line between my house and hers. When she complained that she had told me she didn't like cyprus trees, I told her they weren't cyprus, they were California FU's.
