My DH had a BCC removed on the top of his head with the MOHS procedure. They were fortunately able to remove it all with the first cut . . .but he was there for over 3 hours as an outpatient.

DH also had a BCC removed from the side of his neck a few years ago as a procedure in the dermatologist office.

DH is fair skinned, light eyes and did work outside alot and needs to remember to wear sunscreen. His parents also had the same skin cancer issues. I think it is hereditary, especially for fair skinned people.
