I don't use a postal scale. Not that it would work any better or worse, but I use a fish scale...the kind people take with them to weigh fish they catch. It has a little hook on it and I make a 'sack' out of a towel or rag, put the pup in and hang is on the hook. Works just as well, has a digital read...I think it was about $25 at Wal-Mart. Just FYI.
