The ONLY big dog that I have ever trusted around my little ones is 2bits. He is 1/2 shepard,1/2 huskey,,now 15 yrs old. He is our great big brother to all of the little ones. We are still careful to make sure that the little dogs are not allowed to be in his face and if he and one of the poodles play,I am standing right there beside them. Playtime together only last about 5min and then it is time for something else. A big dog,nomatter how loving, can get carried away just like a little one. But they are so much bigger and dont realize that they could hurt a little friend.
When out in public,if someone tell me that their big dog wont hurt my baby. I tell them very politely that they know their dog but I dont and to restrain them. It would only take ONE bite. I have been attacked by StBenards on two separate occasions while hold a small dog. Scary stuff. |
