Default death by golden retriever

our family rented a pet friendly cottage (pretty popular inkorea) because my cousin wanted to take all the dogs on the mini vacation with us.

It was Mickey & Coco (yorkies), Chelsea (westie terrier) and Baily (golden retriever)

All the dogs seems to get along fine walking around checking out the place.

Mickey really likes big dogs, especially Golden Retrievers because he's used to seeing and playing with them back when he used to live in Canada.

We were all getting ready for lunch and I'm clicking away with my camera. Then we heard a yelp and i jumped to see Baily the golden retriever had mickey in a headlock and bit him on the leg. I know I should have remained calm but i screamed and started crying while my mom ran to break them apart.

Mickey's blood was spurting everywhere. Because we were up inthe cottage country, we weren't sure where the nearest vet was. Thankfully an iphone came into rescue and found out the nearest vet we went.

The vet said that MIckey was extremely lucky because it could have been worse (a little higher or lower could have instantly killed him) and that my mom was fast enough to break them apart.

Mickey only had one puncture wound but its pretty deep. The vet said with medication and shots and disinfecting he will be fine. Mickey will go and see his regular vet tomorrow.

All of yesterday mickey was in a lot of pain but today he jumped up on the couch and walked around so I think he's feeling much better.

I was worried that because of the stress he might not do well because he is 15. but i think he's on the road to a great recovery. This morning he went up to baily who was not allowed to come in and had to stay in the foyer tied up with the door closed and barked at him in anger. I think he wanted to say you did this to me. oh bless his fiestiness.

Let Mickey's story be a warning. Mickey did nothing but to follow Baily and got almost killed. i always thought golden retrievers were friendly and not vicious. Please always make sure your baby is on a leash when walking because I definately do not wish this experience on anyone else. (If i learned anything its definately dont let the cute face fool you)

I on the other hand have to learn to remain calm and act quickly instead of screaming and crying which probably startled mickey and then later hyper ventiliating and then fainting..

Both Mickey & I are fine but please keep him in mind so he can get through this
