So far, so good on the new eye drops. The eyelid (the inside, not outside -- he has never had any outer swelling/redness -- the only reason I knew about the lid is I am a dedicated eye checker now) is nice and pink and the eye is clear white, not bloodshot. Could be that he had an irritation left over from the laser surgery. That is one of the indications for these eye drops.
Eight more days of the drops and we go in for a re-check. The real tests will be time and a bath.
If this doesn't work, Max will have to be sedated to go under the microscope for a closer examination of the inner eyelid.
