Maybe instead of 'correcting' them, just make a point to use the correct pronunciation a time or two in the conversation. I know what you mean about bike names and components. Some words don't sound too bad if they're American-ized and mis-pronounced, but some can really grate on the ears.
People get names wrong all the time, even very common ones. If someone gets my name wrong, I may say something like, "well, actually it's Jim, but so long as I know you're talking to me, I'll answer to most anything". You know, just something to keep the tension off the situation. |
