Yep, this can be a problem sometimes. I will be eager to hear what others tell you, but I will share my experiences with this. When I have Cali groomed, or I do it myself usually, I do what the groomers call a "hygiene trim" around the anus and the long hair below and around that area. Have to be cautious though because you don't want to trim too close and give them a rash. This works well for us and we don't have alot of problems with it. If you sometimes get a little "dingle berry" you can just cut it off and that lets you know an area you may need to trim in the future. If you are going to show in confirmation that may not be acceptable though, I'm not sure about that.
