The person I bought Jasmine from, didn't ask me any questions, I did a lot of talking- explained my household ect. I asked her a lot of questions about her pups- and she told me she was never asked many of those questions before- I did my homework, and knew what to check on the pup when I got there.
She did have another female about half the size of Jasmine, but I had already picked out Jasmine, well I should say Jasmine picked out me
I then asked about the other pup, and she said she had already sold her to another lady, but first she had to get her eye checked out- the pup had run into a burr and her eye had gotten infected. I found out later, that she didn't want to sell the tiny pup to a family with young children, and I can respect that.
When I sold my pups, I admit I turned away more people than I thought I would... one wanted to buy a small male to breed with her 3lb female... I gave her some information and the phone number of my reproductive vet, and refused to sell to her (not in a mean way, I told her my pups were on a limited reg. which she didn't care because her female was already limited, so she would sell without papers, it took all I had to be "professional") another I turned away because the kids spilled the beans that they just put their lab into a shelter, then mom chimed in saying that was because they had to move every 4 yrs (military) and they couldn't find a place that would take a dog.... I told her that yorkies have a harder time with adjustment, ect... so I ended up talking her out of a yorkie... another I turned away because it was four college girls living together, and when they would move apart from eachother, they would each have 3 months out of a yr with the pup at their home.
But you can turn people away without being rude, you can find out a lot of information, just by having a conversation.. a person can look great on paper, but the real story comes out with casual conversation.
When a person came to visit the pups, I wanted the pup to pick them, and that is how it ended up working out... I trust the instincts of animals.. and the pup that I thought would best be suited with the person, is the one that ended up picking out the person. I had many people call, several people visit- and I am confident that the right choice was made for the two pups I had available.
I was also asked by many people to be put on a waiting list, but decided that breeding wasn't for me- I was an emotional mess, just ask anyone in my family- I was always fretting over, were they too warm, eating enough, eating too much (yes that did happen) I ran to the vet and called them all the time, I would lose sleep over wondering if I would find good enough owners (which really everyone in my family said I would keep them all because no one would be good enough in my eyes) ect, ect, ect.
My vet though does have a list in my file of people wanting a yorkie from me, if I ever change my mind... lol- not gonna happen... I did get a whole bunch of pictures printed out recently of all the pups, and I admit for a second... I thought about it.... only a second though- then my family brought me back to reality and reminded me of how life was during that time.
