I completely understand what you're going through as I struggled with the same decision a little over a year ago with my Tessie. When we adopted Tessie, she was almost 3 years old and barely weighed 3 lbs and she had not been spayed. Her small size as well as age had me soooo worried, but I did alot of research and realized that the health dangers of not spaying (pyometra, etc) outweighed the risk of spaying. I also made sure that I felt 100% comfortable with our vet. AND I am very thankful for the YT members that gave words of encouragement and shared success stories~ which really helped me.

I started a thread on YT to ask for help in the decision to spay Tessie. "Please help with impt. spay questions"

I've copied some of the info from the thread that helped me when I was struggling with the decision to spay Tessie.

Also imo, it is probably fine to spay now, but waiting a few more weeks (like 6 weeks after heat ends) is not a bad idea. There is a higher risk for bleeding when spaying during heat, so a higher risk of complications. Waiting gives things a chance to return to normal in there.
Also, on the day of the spay, I started a thread asking for prayers & positive thoughts while Tessie was going through the procedure. YT members were very sweet and it helped me so much. So, I definitely understand what you're going through and please let me know if I can help in any way!
