I've had my Maltese, Biscuit, on Wellness since he was a puppy and he's almost 3. I have my 6 1/2 month old Yorkie, Muffin, on a Wellness/Chicken Soup mix. The Wellness nuggets are a bit too big for her mouth so I kind of crush them up and add to the Chicken Soup. The Wellness is what my vet has always recommended. He believes it's one of the finest dog foods around. But it's also expensive. I think the Chicken Soup is almost as good but a bit cheaper.
I had Muffin on Royal Canin because it's what the breeder had her on but it made her really itchy. She does have dry skin but it has gotten better now that I've switched her food.
It may take trying a few different foods until you know what's best for your baby. There are so many of us on this forum that use different foods and swear by our choices but each dog is different and what's good for one isn't neccesarily good for another.
