Try getting him an xpen or playpen to pop him in when you need to walka way. That way he can bounce around, and not be in the crate but confined enough so you know he's not getting into anything. When we first got Gizmo, my husband and I would put him in a playpen when we had to make/eat dinner or when we had to go to the bathroom, answer the door, etc.
