Please get this boy Yorkie a complete vet checkup ASAP. You have described the "classic symptoms" for livershunt. Many Yorkies can live several years on the edge but yet never really having a health crisis. They just appear "not thrifty" or not totally healthy. But everything you said about this kid screams that he may have a liver condition. And I repeat "may have". In any case if he is thin and underweight he needs to see a vet to rule out any other health issues. Ask the vet to do a complete CBC blood panel AND a serum bile acid test. The serum bile acid test will reveal a liver issue. Then you can make a decision as to what further testing and/or treatments may be necessary. Please let us know. Good luck.
Oh and trust me NO healthy Yorkie spends his days sleeping "in a ball" all day. It is just not their nature. They are terriers and all things associated with being a terrier uh I mean "terror". LOL
