"Your dog is too big!" WHAT?!?! Ok let me start that my family is a very loving family...but they do not know anything about a dog.
My grandpa owns a chihuahua/daschund (sp?) mix named Star, that he thinks he can feed anything to including cooked bones and a whole corn on the cob. He feeds Star Dog Chow and any left over food they have. I have tried to talk to him about dog nutrition. Also, I would like to add that he loves this dog with all his heart. When she needed surgery, he was at the vet in a heartbeat and was crying because he was scared that he was going to loose her. (Star got pregnant and needed a c-section. I tried to convince him to spay her at the time but not sure if he did).
One of my uncle just recently adopted a chihuahua (i think). Well yesterday, he left Tiny in the car with the window cracked while we were at Church. I did not know this until we walked out of Church and saw her in there. I just about smashed his window open. I explained to him that it is illegal to leave his dog in the car and she could have died of heat exhaustion. She is a tiny little thing and they seem to think that she is not going to grow any bigger. And this same uncle is telling me that my dog is too big! WHAT?! How is he too big if he is only 3.7 lbs at 18 weeks? He keeps boasting that his dog will not grow any bigger because she is a "Teacup". To tell you the truth, I think the dog is not even 8 weeks yet.
Trust me people, I tried everything to explain to my family about dogs, and I will continue trying. I already made my grandpa upset because I didnt want Sparky to eat the Beneful, my cousin is feeding her Pomeranian/Miniature Pincher (sp?) mix. I explained to him that he might get diarhea and that food is not good anyway. He called my dog, too sensitive because he feeds his dog anything.
Sorry about the long rant. It just gets tiring trying to correct them. But with that I will keep trying anyway. Thanks for listening.
ETA:
I would like to add that I hope Sparky gets bigger because i feel like he is too tiny.
