I get up with my pups at 4:30 - I have been doing this with them since I got them three weeks ago. It works okay for me since we go to bed most nights around 9:00-9:30. The time we wake up until I leave for work at 7:00 seems to just fly by.
I have told them to go back to sleep twice and I got a few sighs and they were quiet for about an hour. (they are conked out on the floor with me now!)
Usually we have intense play time with me throwing a toy for about an hour before bedtime. I have a "special" toy that I keep put away for this activity. They love when the pre-bedtime toy comes out. They are soooo funny. All of the toys they have, and when I get that one from the closet they go crazy. Works for me.
