Shortly after we got Douglas (1 1/2 wks later) I found tick a little under his pad of his front foot. It was a lone star tick and was buried almost up to the white dot. I was scared to remove it so I called and they said a vet tech could remove it. I had also notice a decrease in feedings.
The tech removed it but could not get the head out, she cleaned it up and send me out...when checking out (it was free!) she said "wait i want the vet to check him out) so we stayed another 45 minutes while the vet tried to get the head out. they where concerned about the amount of swelling, we don't know how long the tick was there. They put Douglas on antibiotic just in case as they where concerned about the amount of swelling!
Everything turned out OK but that is our story. Here is a picture of his tick.
