On the subject of animals vs humans, we certainly need a different definition of "EQUALITY".
As humans we have historically shown an overwhelming "ignorance" of the impact of our "needs" wants or desires on this small planet we all share and must live on.

These are thorny issues, that will not be resolved in one or even many discussions, but we as a society will need to resolve as time goes by.

We have acted as if our intellectual superiority automatically granted us the "right" to do whatever we wanted with the resources we must husband for our future survival as a species.

We will reap as a human nation the consequences of those actions, and sadly it is our children and grandchildren who will need to struggle with the answers to, diminishing fresh water, lack of ariable land to feed an already overpopulated world, lack of oil, polluted air, and on and on. The future life on this planet is by no means assured.
