Glad she will be ok. Make sure not to give her any other food or treats.
As far as bringing a second dog into the house - what worked for me, and I'm not sure if anyone else would agree, is that I more or less ignored my second dog (Max) when he was brought into my family. I wanted to be 100% certain that Cooper knew he was my #1. Max followed us around so he was included. There has never been any issue with either of them knowing that Cooper is the alpha dog. However, we've had food aggression issues and I had to separate their feedings. Now, Cooper just gives Max "the ugly face" and Max knows to back off. It's going to take some time for them to become sisters, but it will happen. Today, both dogs know they are loved equally. |
