I'm pretty much a life-long insomniac, so I've tried everything.
The thing that works best for me is a hot relaxing bath, followed by laying in bed listening to a guided relaxation meditation.
My problem is more that I wake up and can't go back to sleep. Eating or drinking something helps, of course, so does Ambien.
I hope your sleeplessness is just temporary!
