Something must have gone wrong w that service dog's training if he is sniffing crouches while in "work mode". I have a friend who is involved w raising/training labs as seeing eye dogs. When their harness is on, they are supposed to know they are in work mode and are not to exhibit those types of "dog behaviors". That's why a lot of ppl will ask you not to pet their service dog while his harness is on. These dogs are supposed to be tested for temperament and intellect from puppyhood. In fact, one of his labs could not complete the program. The intellligence was very good, but his temperament was too distractable. They must be able to stay focused while working.
