Male dogs will "mark" or "pee" in an area to mark their territory. A lot of people choose to neuter their males at about 6 months since this seems to be about the time they would start marking.
My boy was neutered at 6 1/2 months and does not mark in the house but will mark every little clump of weed he sees on our walks. lol
As far as training, both of mine were pretty easy to train. Maggie was really easy as she's very submissive and wants to please you. Hot Rod just picked things up really easily.
