OMG...I was rubbing my Trixie's belly today and notice a strange brown spot.....it was a tick!!
I removed it (head intact and all) and it left a red spot on her little white belly. I was so freaked that after I looked at it and saw it was a tick, I squished it and flushed it down the toilet instead of saving it and bringing it to the vet
What an idiot!!
The spot seems to be healing and isn't as red anymore.
My vet's office was closed when this happened so I couldn't call them.
Do you think I should bring her in to the vet or am I panicking. The tick was fully removed and was still alive...yuck....so I know I got it all out. Is there anything the vet can do at this point.
She isn't on any flea/tick prevention because she isn't outside all that much and I thought that giving her the least amount of chemicals was best, but now I wonder if I made a huge mistake.
Give me some advice please.
