I have wondered this ever since I first read the first "controversial" thread about the size of Yorkies!! We had a poodle that was about 14 lbs. ... even she didn't seem large to us! When we bought Toto, we wanted a small Yorkie because of our lifestyle [otherwise, we would have had to wait until we retired to have a pet]. Toto was born of "normal" purebred Yorkie parents .... she was just an itty bitty thing and the breeder's "estimate" on her size was "right on". Adult size = 3 lbs.! She just doesn't seem all that small to us ... suppose we are just used to her. Bottom line ... had she grown the size of a St. Bernard, we could've cared less! Five minutes after we saw her, we were just so terribly in love with her! Plans for her spay were made even before we saw her! Would we have sought out a breeder who bred for tiny, tiny size ... not in this lifetime!! First and foremost, we looked for a breeder who was striving to perfect/improve the breed. So far, our little Angel Brat is just perfect!!!
