I can't recall how long it lasted...I know we heard weird noises as it was coming in, and then our electricity started flashing, and I think it was quite a while that it was moving over us - the wind was bad and it was very loud.
I was just reading more details and it looks like it was about 50 miles wide, and 8,000-10,000 feet high. It was up to 60 mph. I guess 911 had 720 calls during it, poor peoples.
It's Monsoon season here, so dust storms aren't too unusual - but they're usually always followed/accompanied by rain. I guess this one is called a "Haboob" since it didn't rain. Who knew? I really wanted to put some swim goggles on and just go out there and be in it . Hubby wouldn't do it! I did go outside for a minute to grab some things that might blow away, and I came in covered in a film and eyes full of sand.
Storms are cool. | Now I have this stuck in my head~you are a silly girl But I have to confess I would have been right next to you with my goggles too taking in that amazing experience.
