I love Yorkies! My experience with 2 of them is that they both naturally fetch and like to dig for things. Both seem to enjoy the anticipation of when I am going to toss the toy more than retrieving the toy. I hold it in the air and move it around slowly and they follow with their head and the hair on their body seems to fluff up and they are highly alert. If I fake a toss, they react, but make sure I have actually thrown the object of their desire before they chase after it. As they stand on alert, both would lift one front paw of the ground as if they think this will make them faster, LOL. If I don't throw soon, they will pat the ground with one or both front paws as if to tell me that they are ready to fetch. Another trait I saw in both is to hide a squeaky toy in a blanket and sqeak it. This seems to make them incredibly determined to dig the toy out of the blanket or hidden place. They will dig and dig and dig to exhaustion! They both never seemed to tire of these 2 games. If anyone has any other ideas for games for earth dogs, I would love to hear about them. I think these are traits as these Yorkies are different ages and never met one another. I babysat one and the other is mine I bought because I loved the little guy I babysat. I noticed right away with my baby that he had the same traits as the other Yorkie, with no coaching on my part, so I think these are traits common to their ratter history. Thoughts? |
