Feeding a good quality food should eliminate that doggy odor.
Especially with Yorkies, I've found they don't smell like other dogs, they tend not to smell at all. I have allergies to most dogs and I am super sensitive, so I pay attention to these things. Loki only smells if he rolls in something or pees on his feet (he is quite talented at this) otherwise he smells like the lavender shampoo I use on him about once a week. His face gets kinda stinky from his food getting stuck in his beard so I wash his face and eyes once a day with a wash cloth. He is clipped super short so we don't even brush him every day.
