Default Dark/Thick Blood in Poo

I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place. I'm just worried about my dog, Biscuit. He passed dark/thick blood with his poo about half an hour ago. This is the first time something like this has happened. It wasn't a few drops, either. He left behind a small pool of blood. I checked around his anus and he doesn't have any cuts or noticeable problems. He's acting fine otherwise. He's running around, eating, drinking, etc. Maybe he ate something he wasn't supposed to and it's hurting him? I'm very worried.

I left a message with the vet, but I don't think I'll get a response until tomorrow. I'm going to keep a very close eye on him (which basically means I won't sleep tonight) ... I'm tempted to just rush him to the vet. I'm also worried about tonight. He hates fireworks and I don't want him to have a bad time

For reference, Biscuit is 4 years old. Any advice is welcome!!
