I had three dogs when I was looking for an apartment, most only accept up to 2. I kept looking and found one that allows 3!! It does take time and effort, but it can be done. I would suggest driving that 14 hours to your close family and let Pooter stay there (if possible) until you return. It's probably his way of showing he missed you by barking and nibbling. Well, imagine you giving him up? He will feel betrayed and be really sad! I pray for little Pooter.
